Encryption for the Engineer !

Let's talk about encryption. I promise a talk that will be easy to decipher! This talk will start with a quick history, how encryption relates to hashing, discussion on two common cipher types and how they work, discuss passwords(ugh!) and passkeys(yay!), talk about what data you should be encrypting (and when), tackle which algorithms have been broken, and then we'll end, looking forward, with a little bit of encryption fun. You'll also get java example code which uses initialization vectors and can both encrypt and decrypt using AES256. My enthusiasm for cryptography might seem excessive, yet it’s a “key” facet of my interests.
